The Maverick hockey game that took place on October 19 was unlike any other Maverick hockey game. Yes, our team played phenomenally, as always. And yes, we defeated our opponent, with the final score being UNO 8 and Manitoba 1. But there was something different...and I can't quite put my finger on it.
Oh wait. Could it be that the UNO Mavericks were clad in pink jerseys?
Yes, I said pink!
UNO teamed up with Mutual of Omaha and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organi
zation to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.Not only were the Mavericks dressed in stylish pink jerseys, but representatives from the UNMC and the Methodist Cancer Center were also stationed outside the arena handing out important information on breast cancer to passing Maverick fans.
